The Port Authority of Vigo annually renews the environmental certification UNE-EN ISO 14001 since obtaining it in 2007, as well as its EMAS III registration for all the services and processes that are carried out in the Port of Vigo:
The management of the port's service area and its services, in coordination with the competent administrations.
The planning, design, construction, conservation and exploitation of the works and services of the port, and the maritime signals entrusted.
The management of the public domain of the Port and maritime signals.
The optimization of the economic management and the profitability of the patrimony and of the resources assigned.
The promotion of industrial and commercial activities related to maritime or port traffic.
The coordination of the operations of the different modes of transport in the port area.
The management and coordination of port traffic, both maritime and terrestrial.
As a requirement of the EMAS III registry, the Port Authority of Vigo prepares year after year its Environmental Declaration and submits it to an accredited external entity:
The Consolidated Text of the Law of State Ports and Merchant Marine (RDL 2/2011) incorporates sustainability as one of the principles that should govern the model of planning and management of ports.
Since 2010, the Port Authority of Vigo elaborates a Sustainability Report based on the "Guide for the elaboration of sustainability reports of port authorities" approved by Puertos del Estado.
